I'm BACK!! And with a few details on my trip to California!

You all have probably wondered why I haven’t been writing blog posts over the last couple weeks.  Well, I have a couple reasons!  First, last week was crazy busy with work, work meetings, a very sick kitty with multiple tips to the vet and going out of town on an exciting trip.  And I sent my computer off to Toshiba repair depot because my keyboard wasn’t working properly.  Funny story with the keyboard – I couldn’t type the letters j, k, h, l, q, an actual coma, or use the up/down arrows because theses keys wouldn’t work.  That means that I either used spell check to correct misspelling OR cut & pasted these letters into what I was typing.  Talk about a pain in the booty!  This rocked on for about 6 months before I finally broke down, packed up my computer and shipped it out (plus the warranty was about to expire!).  I kept postponing the repair because I knew that posting in my challenge groups and on social media with my coaching business would be a complete challenge, so I put it off as long as I could!  Typing long posts and documents on a tablet and smartphone takes FOREVER!  And those of you who know me, know that I like to work quickly :-)
Well, my computer man (yes, this is his name!) was returned to me Friday!  Thank goodness!

AND I’m ready to talk to you guys about my trip to California!

I’ll begin with why I went – this trip was all about learning Smart Success tips from Chalene Johnson and the experts that she brought in to speak to us.  I love learning, personal development and growth.  I began her online academy last fall to learn how to organize my entire life, goals, priorities, and set myself up for smart success rather than stressed success.  I knew that this academy would benefit my professional life at the pharmacy as well as my own health and fitness business.  I’m learning how to prioritize and focus on what is most important to continue to build business and my life by design!
Now, I knew that this trip would be FUN – but I was also going by myself and California is HUGE!  I’m a total introvert who gets very nervous in crowds of strangers, especially by myself.  But I had a gut feeling that this live event was exactly what I needed to become more driven and focused on my goals.

The trip began a little rocky but completely FUN – I had a little incident on the plane train in the Atlanta airport (just think dominoes with people!) and I sat at the wrong gate for an hour before I realized that I should’ve already been boarding my plane.  But I got myself to the correct gate, boarded without incident and made it to California safely!  Once I checked into the resort, walked around a little and settled in, I began to feel more calm and comfortable.  The next morning was the first day of meetings, as I stood in line for entrance into the VIP section, a sweet lady (who could totally tell how nervous I was!) began talking with me.  She and her sister came together and they decided that they would take care of me!  So we became friends and I had someone to sit with and eat meals with – this made me much more comfortable.  And, because I decided that I needed to branch out & live a little (I tell Burney this all the time!), I met a few more people and enjoyed great conversations throughout the weekend!  And I even dressed up, wore heels that I NEVER wear (did NOT FALL) and had a great time at the party while I met Chalene!

On a side note, have you guys ever tried tofu??  I did last weekend at this event.  Totally by accident.  Thought that it was chicken – looked like chicken but it doesn’t taste anything like chicken!  Now I know!

Now on to some of what I learned at the seminar.  Smart Success needs to be a total MOVEMENT for all of us!  We don’t have to work more, work ourselves to the bone or do everything ourselves to be successful in life or in our business.  We can have balance throughout every aspect of our lives and actually enjoy every second of it!  I’ve learned to change my mindset and realize that things must be done differently.  We thought about and wrote down what we love about our lives and what we don’t love about our lives.  We began to make decisions about goals and purpose, and began making plans to achieve these goals and be able live our purpose and passion each day.

We also listened to Dr. Amen speak about brain health.  “When your brain is not right, you are not right” is my favorite quote from his talk.  We are in a war for the health of our brains.  Processed foods, high sugar foods, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, etc ALL decrease the health of our brains.

We listened to a few other speakers – and I’ll share more about what I learned this week!  I can’t wait to share!
